GOBEYOND project: new stage in Montpellier

GOBEYOND project: new stage in Montpellier

From 22 to 25 April, the partners in the GOBEYOND project (GeO and weather multi-hazard impact Based Early warning and response systems supporting rapid deploYment of first respONders in EU and beyonD), led by the University of Catalonia and supported by the European Union, will be in Montpellier.

Predict is welcoming its partners to share and exchange ideas on methods and tools that have been tried and tested and deployed with local authorities, businesses and the general public for almost 20 years.

Gobeyond is part of the drive to implement a global early warning system, as called for by the United Nations and the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).

The aim of the project is to design and make available a platform for anticipating and managing the impacts of hydro-meteorological and geological hazards (earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis), in order to continuously improve the operational response in Europe and the Mediterranean basin.

Predict’s main task will be to develop this platform for the Mediterranean region, whose territories are particularly sensitive to the risks posed by climate change.

It will be tested at several pilot sites in these areas to ensure that it is perfectly adapted to the needs of users.
