The DANA (Dépresion Aislada en Niveles Altos) which hit Valencia in Spain, and the many other events of the past year, are increasingly challenging our organisations and our ability to deal with them. They underline the importance of implementing comprehensive, locally designed early warning systems that integrate risk awareness, preparedness, monitoring and warnings to promote resilience.
In response to this need, the EW4MED risk management platform was presented, as part of the Early Warnings for All (EW4ALL) initiative launched by the United Nations and supported by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).

Inaugurated on 18 March, this platform is available to users from local authorities, inter-municipalities and state organisations in countries on both sides of the Mediterranean, and is designed to help them deal with the situations imposed by changing risks.
